Are You Covering Your Old Brow Tattoo With Pencil Every Morning?

You got permanent makeup because you wanted to spend less time doing your eyebrows.

But somewhere along the way, that changed.

Maybe your Powder Brows have faded. Your old microblading has changed color. The shape isn't as defined as it used to be. Or parts of your brows have faded more than others.

So now you're reaching for a brow pencil every morning to cover, darken or reshape your permanent makeup.

If that sounds familiar, it may be time to have your brows evaluated.

Permanent Makeup Is Designed to Fade

Permanent makeup doesn't stay exactly the same forever.

Over time, the color becomes lighter and softer as your skin processes the pigment. Sun exposure, skincare products, skin type, lifestyle and the age of your permanent makeup can all affect how it looks over time.

Sometimes fading is fairly even.

Other times, you may notice your brows becoming warmer, cooler, grayish or simply much lighter than they once were.

Older microblading can also lose the crisp appearance of individual strokes as it ages.

That doesn't automatically mean something went wrong. It does mean your brows may need maintenance.

When Your "Time-Saving" Brows Start Taking Time Again

Think about why you chose permanent makeup in the first place.

You probably didn't want to spend every morning drawing your eyebrows.

But if you're now filling faded areas, correcting the color or covering an old shape with pencil, you're back to doing exactly that.

Five minutes here. Ten minutes there.

Every morning.

At that point, it makes sense to ask whether your existing permanent makeup can be refreshed.

Do You Need a Touch-Up, Color Boost or Correction?

That depends on what's currently in your skin.

If the shape still works and the old pigment has simply faded, a color boost or touch-up may be enough to restore definition.

If the pigment has shifted significantly in color, the shape needs adjustment or there's too much old pigment remaining in the skin, the solution may be different.

Sometimes correction is appropriate.

Sometimes lightening or removal should come first.

And sometimes the best thing to do is leave the brows alone.

That's why I don't believe every set of faded brows should automatically be tattooed again.

Start With an Evaluation

Bring me the brows you have.

You don't need to know whether you need Powder Brows, Nano Brows, a color boost, correction or removal.

We'll look at your existing pigment, color, shape, skin and your goals. Then we can determine what makes sense.

Because if you're spending every morning covering your permanent makeup with a brow pencil, your brows aren't saving you time anymore.

And maybe it's time to change that.
